“Love in Action!” at Hancock Airbase,
14 February, 2021
February 11, 2021, On Sunday, Feb. 14th at 1 pm, members of many groups invited by Upstate Drone Action, will gather for “Love in Action,” a Valentine’s Day Drone Action at Hancock Field, in Syracuse, the 174th Attack Wing of the NY Air National Guard Base, Main Gate 6001 E. Molloy Rd, Mattydale, NY 13211.
We know that “love is the solution” sounds naive. However, as Dr. King stated, “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.” We are here because of the 174th’s drone assassination program and we are here because of love. Killing people with drones in Iraq and Afghanistan and other places is madness. The nearly $1 trillion yearly expenditures on “National Defense”, the Pentagon, and war are desperately needed for human needs especially during a pandemic and environmental remediation. We ask Hancock personnel (truly a question for all of us) to look deeply within. Is what you are doing to survive destroying your conscience, the environment, and the well-being of your community?
War and militarism are robbing us of money for human resources and destroying our climate. If we refuse to care for each other and our precious earth, humanity will soon suffer from climate catastrophe.
This includes you, your family, children, and friends.
Meet us (masked & distanced )with your heart signs and Valentine’s cards for the people at the base at 1 pm at the Main Gate of Hancock Air Field! 6001 E. Molloy Rd, Mattydale, NY 13211. Cards will be delivered to the base gate.
We will meet at 12:15 pm, before-hand at the May Memorial Church parking lot at 3800 E. Genessee St., E. Syracuse. Bring cookies to share and we’ll caravan together to the base.
People from Ithaca will leave at 10:45 am.
No arrests are planned in this action for the safety of everyone during the COVID-19 pandemic. This event is sponsored by Upstate Drone Action, Syracuse Peace Council, WNY Peace Center, Code Pink, World Beyond War, Know Drones, Veterans for Peace Chapters 10, 90, Ithaca Catholic Workers, St. Joseph’s House of Hospitality – Rochester, and others.
