Portland Protest
Peace Action Maine

October 8 2003

From Bruce Gagnon

Today in Portland, Maine eight folks from Peace Action Maine and the GN held signs and passed out 300 leaflets from 11-1pm at the Farmers Market in downtown.  The leaflets talked about how the Aegis destroyer, built at Bath Ironworks in the state, will be used as part of Theatre Missile Defense to protect corporate interests around the world.  The leaflets also outlined the tremendous economic costs to the U.S. of unrestrained military spending.

Following the leafletting I did a half hour interview on WUSB radio from Long Island, NY.

On Saturday, Oct 11 we will go directly to Bath Ironworks and hand out leaflets about the Aegis role in foreign and domestic policy throughout the community.
